An outdoor religious shrine is set into a heavily textured, light beige limestone wall, characteristic of Valletta, Malta

VallettaMalta

An outdoor religious shrine is set into a heavily textured, light beige limestone wall, characteristic of Valletta, Malta. The central feature is an arched, faux-rock grotto, approximately one meter tall, constructed from grey, irregular concrete elements. Within this grotto stands a polychrome statue of the Virgin Mary, rendered in a pale cream gown with blue trim, measuring approximately 50-60 cm in height. A starburst halo is positioned behind her head. Multiple rosary bead strands, in hues of blue, purple, and multicolored, are draped over her hands and body. Below the main statue, on a flat, light-colored shelf, are several objects. To the left, a small, white statue of an angel holding a scroll rests on a cloud-like base. In the center, a clear, fluted glass lamp or candle holder with a metallic base is connected by a white electrical cord. Adjacent to it, a single red flower petal is visible, and several small coins are scattered on the shelf. To the right, another small, white statue of an angel, appearing to play a wind instrument, also rests on a cloud-like base, next to a small white disc, possibly a candle holder. The overall scene depicts a devotional street shrine.
