The image depicts a heavily polluted section of a river or canal, consistent with the environmental conditions found along the Nairobi River system within Nairobi, Kenya. The scene is illuminated by direct sunlight. A murky, dark body of water flows from left to right, containing various floating debris. The banks on both sides are steep and consist of exposed soil and mud, extensively covered by accumulated solid waste. A significant volume of refuse is also submerged or floating in the immediate foreground. Observable objects among the refuse include numerous plastic bottles (clear, blue, yellow), assorted plastic bags (blue, white, green), fabric scraps, metal fragments, and large, angular pieces of broken glass or mirrors on the lower right bank. A large, faded green and white inflatable object is partially submerged near the left bank in the middle distance. A rusted, dark metal pipe, approximately 30-40 cm in diameter, horizontally traverses the mid-ground, resting on a rough, square concrete support pillar on the right bank. The right bank ascends steeply, showing further piles of mixed waste. Sparse, light green vegetation is visible on the upper portions of the distant banks. No individuals are clearly identifiable within the frame.
