KakunguDemocratic Republic of the Congo

An orange plastic basin, approximately 60-70cm in diameter, rests on dark brown, compacted earth in Kakungu, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The basin is filled with numerous pieces of off-white, irregular, dried organic material, consistent with processed cassava roots, varying in length from 5-15cm. Small fragments of similar material are scattered on the ground immediately adjacent to the basin's lower right edge. The ground consists of fine granular particles, small pebbles, and sparse patches of light green grass, particularly in the upper half of the frame. Dried leaves and small organic debris are visible within the grassy areas. A dark, irregular object, possibly a stone or scat, is present on the ground in the upper center. No human figures or direct human activity are observed.
