The scene depicts a section of natural forest floor within the area of Situm, Papua New Guinea. The ground surface consists of dark, moist soil largely covered by organic debris, including dry brown leaves, fragmented plant matter, and several elongated, pale brown bamboo-like sheaths or stalks. A distinct reddish-brown, decaying plant stalk, approximately 25 centimeters in length, lies horizontally across the lower-center foreground. Dense vegetation covers the majority of the frame, predominantly various shades of green. Two prominent, large, heart-shaped or sagittate leaves are visible: one light lime green, vertically oriented in the lower-center-left; the other darker green, situated right of center, exhibiting some undulation and minor damage along its edges. Numerous smaller plants with deeply serrated, dark green leaves form a pervasive, interwoven ground cover. No human or animal subjects are present. No manufactured objects are visible.
