The image displays a framed painting mounted on a plain, light-colored wall within a gallery

Oviedo/uviéuSpain

The image displays a framed painting mounted on a plain, light-colored wall within a gallery. The painting is enclosed by an ornate, wavy, golden-brown frame. To the right of the artwork, a white informational plaque identifies the artist as "LEONARD FOUJITA," the title as "El sueño" (The Dream), dated "c. 1913," and notes its provenance from the "Colección de Arte Español, Banco de España." This artwork is located at the Museo de Bellas Artes de Asturias in Oviedo/Uviéu, Spain. The painting depicts a pale-skinned, nude woman lying on her back in a bed with white sheets and pillows. Her head is turned slightly to the right, eyes closed, with long, wavy dark hair fanned out on the pillow. Her left arm is bent, hand near her midsection, while her right arm lies extended along her side. Several felines are interacting with her or are present on the bed. A small, dark kitten rests on her left shoulder/chest area. Near her head, two small dark cats are visible, one looking directly forward, the other partially obscured. Above her left hip, a grey-furred cat with prominent ears looks towards the viewer. Behind this grey cat, a larger, wolf-like or wild dog-like animal with pointed ears and an attentive gaze is visible, also looking forward. The bed features dark wooden posts and a translucent, light-colored canopy draped above. The background behind the bed is dark and indistinct. The artist's signature, "Foujita," is visible in the lower-left corner of the painted canvas.
