Stake attention in this memory
This media file contains two Soviet Komsomol membership booklets, possibly from the 1950s and 1970s, laid out on a white crocheted doily. The booklets are of a similar design, with the Komsomol emblem featuring a hammer and sickle, and portraits of Lenin. The left booklet, primarily in Russian and Kazakh, identifies Ivan Vasilievich Lesnik, born in January 1935, who joined the Komsomol in August 1954. It was issued by the Korbyul'skoe uch. mekh. (likely a vocational school or machine-tractor station) in the Kustanai Oblast. The right booklet, written in Russian, Ukrainian, and possibly other languages, belongs to Maria Ivanovna Lesnik, born in February 1958, who joined the Komsomol in March 1972. It was issued by the Leninsky Raykom (district committee) of the Komsomol in Chernivtsi, Ukraine. Both booklets have spaces for photographs, though only the left one clearly displays a black and white portrait of a young man. The right booklet shows a faded portrait of a young woman. Visible text includes the Komsomol motto "Workers of the world, unite!", names of individuals, dates of birth and membership, issuing organizations, and stamps and signatures from officials. The overall impression is one of official documentation from a historical political youth organization. The crocheted doily suggests the items are displayed domestically.
