The image displays the interior of the Dohány Street Synagogue, located on Dohány Street in the 7th district of Budapest, Hungary. The vast sanctuary exhibits Moorish Revival architecture, featuring a high, vaulted ceiling extensively decorated with intricate geometric and floral patterns in warm hues of red, gold, and brown. Two large, multi-tiered chandeliers with numerous bulbs illuminate the central nave, supported by numerous smaller chandeliers and wall-mounted light fixtures along the walls and balconies. Two levels of dark wooden balconies, adorned with ornate railings and supported by gilded columns, extend along both sides of the sanctuary. Circular stained-glass windows are visible on the upper walls, above the balconies. The main floor is furnished with numerous rows of polished wooden pews, all oriented towards the front. At the far end of the sanctuary stands the ornate Ark (Heikhal), a grand, white and gold structure topped with a golden dome. Directly above the Ark is a large, visible pipe organ. Approximately two dozen individuals are seated in the pews on the main floor. Many of these individuals are wearing white kippahs. Their primary action is seated observation within the worship space.
