This image is a detailed view of a ceramic tile mural located at the Cerro de la Gloria monument within General San Martín Park in Mendoza, Argentina. The mural depicts a historical scene, likely the arrival of Christopher Columbus in the Americas, dated "12 DE OCTUBRE" (October 12th), visible at the bottom left. The scene features multiple male figures on a sailing ship, rendered in a illustrative style with visible tile grout lines. A central figure, presumed to be Christopher Columbus, is depicted in a dark hat and maroon tunic, standing prominently and pointing decisively forward with his right arm extended. His left hand appears to hold a scroll or map. To his immediate right, another bearded figure in a purple tunic looks intently in the same direction, his hands positioned as if managing rigging. Numerous other crew members are visible below and around these central figures, their faces conveying expressions ranging from anticipation to awe. They wear period-appropriate attire, including tunics and vests in various colors. The ship's rigging and parts of its yellow sails are visible, set against a light blue and white sky and a blue-green sea with whitecaps. A smaller ship with a cross emblem on its sail is visible in the background to the left. The top border of the mural features decorative blue and yellow scrollwork.
