Behind it and to the right, another mallard duck is swimming towards the top right. Further back and to the left, a common moorhen with a red beak is swimming left. In the middle ground, a female mallard duck is swimming towards the right. To the right of that, a common coot with a white forehead patch is swimming left. Further up and to the right, a male mallard duck is swimming right, its rear facing the viewer. At the top of the image, another bird, possibly a coot, is partially submerged and creating a splash.
