In the foreground, a tan and grey medium-sized dog, possibly a husky or wolf-dog breed, is captured mid-stride, descending a snowy incline from left to right. A metal chain or leash is visible around its neck and trailing behind it into the snow. To the immediate right of the dog's path, a weathered wooden doghouse with a dark opening is partially embedded in a cleared patch of dark ground amidst the snow. In the middle ground, slightly left of center, a traditional wooden well structure, resembling a "crane well" (журавль), stands with a long pole extending upwards and a rope hanging from it.
