A shallow, irregular puddle of water occupies the upper and central portions of the frame, surrounded by lighter, drier sand. Reflected in the puddle are the elongated, dark shadows of two human figures, their heads visible at the top edge of the water and their forms extending downwards across the damp sand. Immediately adjacent to the upper section of these shadows, a tall, light-colored, multi-story building is reflected in the water, its vertical lines distorted by surface ripples. Scattered small, dark particulates and several reddish-brown fragments are visible within the puddle and on the surrounding sand. The extensive length of the shadows indicates a low sun angle, consistent with early morning or late afternoon.
