Embedded within this turf are several Ruellia simplex plants. These plants are characterized by dark, slender stems and long, narrow green leaves. Four distinct, open, trumpet-shaped flowers, each approximately 5-7 cm in diameter, are visible. These flowers are uniformly purple in coloration, with darker, almost black, central throats. One flower is prominently positioned in the lower-center, another in the upper-right, a smaller specimen to the far right, and a partial view of a fourth in the lower-left.
