The upper portion of the scene is dominated by a dense formation of grey and white stratus clouds, which obscure the higher mountain peaks and cling to the upper slopes. Small patches of clear blue sky are visible through breaks in the clouds in the upper right quadrant. The mountains themselves are characterized by steep, exposed grey rock faces with scattered patches of dark green vegetation. Below the cloud line, the middle and lower grounds are covered by rolling hills and slopes. These areas are densely forested with a mix of deciduous trees, which appear bare of leaves, indicating a colder season, and interspersed evergreen vegetation. Exposed rocky outcrops are visible throughout these lower slopes.
