An elevated, empty metal arch bridge, identified as the former railway bridge (Ponte Ferroviária da Régua) now used for pedestrian traffic in Peso da Régua, Portugal, is captured in a head-on, eye-level perspective. The bridge features a dark wooden plank deck, extending into the distance and converging towards a vanishing point under an overcast sky. Two large, grey metal arch trusses, constructed from riveted plates and a lattice of diagonal and vertical supports, frame the walkway on either side, rising significantly above the deck. Dark grey metal railings run along both edges of the wooden surface. In the background, rolling, terraced hills or mountains dominate, characteristic of the Douro Valley, with several tall electricity pylons visible on the distant crests. To the left, a portion of another, older arch bridge with a different structural style is visible below and parallel to the main bridge.
