There is text in Swahili and English on the wall to the right of the pictures. The text describes the scene depicted in the pictures as "MISAFARA YA KULILEZA PRANI," which means "Journeys to the Coast." Below this text, it states, "Slave who were weak due to hunger, thirst and yoked and chained on the bush while marched to the coast." Below the pictures is a yellow piece of paper with text in Swahili and English that reads, "MISAFARA YA AWALI" and "EARLY CONTACTS." The white wall on which the pictures are displayed is slightly textured. The images are displayed in a museum setting, suggesting their historical significance.
