The image displays a dark, weathered, double-leaf wooden door set within a decaying, rough-textured wall

Makadara/Mji Wa Kale wardKenya

The image displays a dark, weathered, double-leaf wooden door set within a decaying, rough-textured wall. Above the door, an arched stone plaque is inscribed with "BRITISH EAST AFRICA PROTECTORATE PROCLAIMED 1ST JULY 1895 A.H. HARDINGE ESQR. COMMISSIONER." The door features multiple carved rectangular panels, each with an arched decorative motif. The surrounding wall, predominantly reddish-brown, grey, and off-white, shows significant peeling, staining, and material degradation. To the left of the door, a thin, dark cable descends diagonally from the top left corner. Near the base of the left wall, two light-blue plastic pipes are visible, one running vertically and the other horizontally along the ground, connecting at an elbow joint. The ground directly in front of the door is a grey, uneven paved surface with scattered dry leaves and dark stains, particularly near the pipes. No people are present. This scene is located in the Makadara/Mji Wa Kale ward, Kenya, consistent with the historical marker and architectural style of Mombasa's Old Town.
