This image displays the interior of the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica of Saigon, located in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The perspective is a wide-angle view down the central nave, directly towards the altar. The cathedral is currently devoid of people. The architectural style is French Gothic Revival. A high, ribbed vaulted ceiling, colored in cream with prominent yellow-gold ribs, extends the length of the nave. A series of approximately seven ornate, multi-tiered chandeliers, appearing to be brass or gilded, are suspended symmetrically along the central axis of the ceiling. Along both sides of the nave, robust cream-colored columns with intricate capitals support a succession of pointed arches. Above these arches, a clerestory level features numerous tall, narrow stained-glass windows, admitting natural light. These windows display geometric patterns. Below the clerestory, the walls incorporate decorative elements and arched recesses. The floor consists of a dark, highly polished central aisle, reflecting overhead light sources and elements of the ceiling. This aisle is flanked by a lighter-colored flooring area beneath numerous rows of dark brown wooden pews, which are neatly arranged in parallel on both sides and are unoccupied. At the far end, the sanctuary area is dominated by an elaborate, dark wooden altarpiece. A large crucifix depicting Christ is centrally mounted on this altarpiece. Below the crucifix, the altar table is adorned with floral arrangements in yellow and orange hues. Additional stained-glass windows are visible behind the altar, illuminating the sanctuary.
