This image depicts the ornate, reddish-brown Baroque facade of the Ignatiuskapelle (Ignatius Chapel), located at Augustinerstraße 52 in Mainz, Germany. The building presents a curvilinear, sculptural front adorned with white statuary and decorative elements under an overcast sky. The central feature is a large, dark, elaborately carved double wooden door with an arched top, featuring a wrought-iron grille in the transom window. The entrance is flanked by two pairs of engaged Corinthian columns, crafted from reddish stone, supporting a decorative entablature. Above the entrance and central transom, a prominent white statue of the Virgin Mary holding the Child Jesus is positioned within a niche, both figures bearing golden halos. Below this central statue, a partially legible inscription reads "SANCTAE MARIAE DE LORETO..." Flanking the central Virgin Mary statue, on pedestals above the columns, are two additional white statues. To the left, a male figure identified as St. Francis of Assisi stands in monastic robes, holding a staff or cross in his right hand. To the right, another male figure, identified as St. Ignatius of Loyola, is depicted holding what appears to be a book or a flaming object in his left hand. The facade is extensively ornamented with scrolled volutes, cartouches, and a cloud motif positioned above the central statue. A sculpted finial crowns the apex of the facade. The building features a dark, pitched roof, with a smaller decorative finial visible at its peak. Metal downspouts run vertically on both the left and right sides of the building. The structure is situated on a cobblestone street. To the left, an adjacent building with lighter, possibly pinkish walls and white-framed windows is visible. A dark metal fixture and a small yellow sign are attached to the left wall of the chapel's facade. A green circular plaque with the number "52" is affixed to the wall to the right of the main door. A small orange traffic cone is partially visible on the cobblestones in the lower-left foreground.
