This image shows the Large Theater (Teatro Grande) in the archaeological site of Pompeii, Italy. The perspective is from the upper tiers of the semi-circular stone seating area (cavea), looking down towards the orchestra and stage. The cavea is constructed from grey, rough-hewn stone steps, with the innermost curved seating rows appearing lighter, possibly white or newly restored. In the central orchestra area, four individuals are standing together in a group, facing each other in conversation. One additional individual is visible further up on the left side of the stone steps, descending. Beyond the stage, the remains of brick and stone structures form the background, consistent with the ancient *scaenae frons* and surrounding architectural elements. In the far distance, trees, scattered modern buildings, and a range of mountains are visible beneath an overcast sky. Metal strips are embedded into the stone steps in the immediate foreground. The scene is illuminated by natural, diffused daylight.
