The image depicts the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, located in the Carrousel Garden, between the Louvre Museum and the Tuileries Garden in Paris, France. The structure is a neoclassical triumphal arch, constructed primarily of light-colored stone, illuminated by direct sunlight from the upper right, casting distinct shadows. The sky above is a clear blue with sparse, wispy white clouds. Atop the arch, a prominent bronze quadriga features four patinated green horses, adorned with golden harnesses, pulling a golden chariot. A golden female figure, representing Victory or Peace, stands within the chariot, holding a staff. Flanking the quadriga on the attic story are white stone statues; a uniformed military figure holding a staff stands to the right, and another uniformed military figure stands to the left. Further to the left, a white stone figure of a cardinal or religious leader is visible. Below the quadriga and flanking statues, the attic story features a long golden inscription rendered in capitals against the light stone background. Below this, a dark red horizontal band serves as part of the entablature. Bas-reliefs depicting allegorical or historical scenes are carved into the light stone panels directly beneath the statues, above the main archways. The lower portion of the arch reveals at least one grand archway, intricately carved with decorative patterns on its soffit. The facade features engaged columns with dark, ornate Corinthian capitals. The column shafts are constructed from a distinct pinkish-red marble, exhibiting natural veining. Between and above the column pairs, additional bas-reliefs and sculptural details are integrated into the stone facade, portraying groups of figures in various historical or mythological contexts. Another dark red frieze band is visible directly above the columns.
