The scene depicts a forested riverine environment in Nové Dvory, Czechia, under an overcast sky. A moderately wide, swift-flowing river with greenish-brown, turbulent water occupies the foreground and midground, moving from the upper left toward the lower right. The immediate left bank shows exposed soil, moss, and tangled fallen branches. The opposite, steeper bank is heavily wooded, densely covered with dark reddish-brown fallen leaves. Numerous deciduous trees with bare, dark branches dominate the forest, many exhibiting bright green moss on their trunks, particularly those closest to the river. Several scattered tree stumps and fallen logs, also moss-covered, are visible along the far bank. Darker coniferous trees are discernible further into the background forest. No human figures or man-made structures are present.
