The image displays a maroon-colored exhibition panel, likely part of a museum or historical display, dedicated to a historical figure named Zhou Zhongyue. The panel features a circular, black and white portrait of an elderly man with a long, flowing beard and what appears to be a traditional cap or head covering. The man is identified as 周钟岳 (Zhou Zhongyue) with his birth and death years (1876-1955) prominently displayed next to his portrait.

The accompanying white text provides a biography of Zhou Zhongyue in Chinese. It states that he was a member of the Bai ethnic group from Jianchuan County, Dali, and an influential scholar, educator, and politician in modern Yunnan history. He was an early member of the Tongmenghui, studied politics and law in Japan, and held significant positions such as Secretary-General of the Yunnan Governor's Office and acting Governor of Yunnan Province after the Xinhai Revolution. He was instrumental in establishing Yunnan's first public library in 1907 and contributed significantly to Yunnan's cultural development by compiling the revised "Yunnan Provincial Gazetteer." During the Anti-Japanese War, he served as Minister of Interior and Vice President of the Examination Yuan for the Kuomintang government. Disillusioned by political corruption, he resigned and returned home. After the founding of the New China, he served at the Yunnan Provincial Research Institute of Culture and History. The text also notes his calligraphy skills, mentioning that he personally wrote the three characters for the "Presidential Palace" in Nanjing, Republic of China.

The panel is illuminated by what appears to be artificial indoor lighting. Part of another similar exhibition panel is visible at the very top of the image.
