Three Edison-style light bulbs hang from a wire stretched across the top of the frame. The body of water is calm and reflects the sky. Along the edge of the water is a rough, rocky embankment, some of which is covered with dry grass and litter. A paved road runs alongside the embankment on the right side of the frame. In the distance, across the water, is a line of buildings, some with red roofs, and trees. A single person can be seen standing in the middle distance on the embankment across the water. There are two lampposts on the right side of the road. The scene appears to be a waterfront area, possibly a promenade or a park, with an adjacent road.
