The image depicts a small, rustic chapel constructed primarily of rounded river stones, mortared together

UnknownUnknown

The image depicts a small, rustic chapel constructed primarily of rounded river stones, mortared together. The building features a front gable roof covered with reddish-brown terracotta tiles. On the front facade, a weathered wooden door is centrally located, adorned with a small dark Orthodox cross. To the left of the door, a recessed niche contains a small framed icon, possibly depicting the Virgin Mary and child. Above the door, a small rectangular window is visible. Inscriptions in Cyrillic script are present above the window, reading "СВ. ПРОРОК ИЛИЯ" (Saint Prophet Elijah), and below the window, reading "ВОЛАЖИНО." An integrated bell tower, also constructed from river stones, rises from the right side of the chapel. It features an arched opening at its base and a larger arched opening in its upper section. The tower is crowned with a prominent golden yellow Orthodox cross. To the left of the chapel, a wooden post and a partial lean-to roof suggest an attached shelter or annex. The immediate ground around the chapel is paved with irregular, light-colored stone slabs. Sparse, dry vegetation and green shoots are visible growing through the paving and along the edges. In the background, bare tree branches and distant hazy hills or an open area are discernible. The sky is overcast and light grey. No people, animals, or active interactions are present in the scene. The specific city and country are unknown, but the Cyrillic inscriptions indicate a location within an Orthodox Christian, Slavic-speaking region.
