A section of the pedestal for the equestrian statue of St. Stephen is depicted at Fisherman's Bastion (Halászbástya) in Budapest, Hungary. The monument is constructed from light-colored stone, illuminated by direct natural light under a clear blue sky. The upper section features a golden circular medallion with a bas-relief depiction of the Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) holding a cross-banner. This medallion is centrally placed between two ornate stone columns, each with a patterned shaft and a decorative capital. Below this, a horizontal frieze displays a series of repetitive arched patterns and a band of leaf-like carvings. The central and largest feature is a rectangular bas-relief panel illustrating six figures. At the panel's center, King Stephen I is depicted seated on a throne with sculpted beast-headed armrests, wearing a crown and a halo, holding a sword in his right hand and an orb in his left. To the viewer's left of the king, a standing figure with a patriarchal cross and an open book addresses him, partially obscured by a standing figure in a helmet behind him. Further to the viewer's left, a monk-like figure is seated, writing in an open book. To the viewer's right of the king, a standing figure resembling a bishop, holding a crozier and supporting a small crowned figure, is visible. Behind this bishop-like figure, a standing armed figure with a shield and spear is depicted. Beneath the bas-relief panel, carved into the stone, is the inscription "STEPHANUS REX" followed by the dates "977-1038".
