An adult Gila monster (*Heloderma suspectum*) is observed within an enclosure at the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden (Fővárosi Állat- és Növénykert) in Budapest, Hungary. The lizard is positioned horizontally across a thick, gnarled, light gray wooden branch that spans diagonally from the upper left to the lower right of the frame. Its head and forelegs, a dark reddish-brown with a textured, beaded appearance, are directed downwards and to the left, with a distinct pink tongue slightly extended. The lizard's dorsal body is primarily black with prominent white, bead-like osteoderms, which gradually transition into a black and white banded tail visible extending to the right. The background consists of textured, yellowish-brown artificial rockwork, simulating an arid environment. Partial green foliage is visible on the right side of the frame. The scene is viewed through a clear glass barrier, evidenced by minor reflections.
