The scene depicts the greenish-turquoise Ganges River flowing through a mountainous, densely forested valley near Jonk, India. Three red inflatable rafts, each occupied by at least one individual, are observed on the water, spaced apart and positioned roughly from the mid-left to the mid-right of the frame. The riverbanks consist of light-colored sand and dark, irregular rocks. Steep hills, covered in a mix of deciduous and evergreen trees, rise from both sides of the river, receding into a visible atmospheric haze.
