Gyeongju-siSouth Korea

The image displays an indoor archaeological exhibition, identified as the Daereungwon Ancient Tomb Exhibition Hall in Gyeongju-si, South Korea. The scene is dominated by a high, light-brown wooden coffered ceiling fitted with numerous recessed circular spotlights. Below, two large exposed cross-sections of burial mounds are prominent; they consist of layers of reddish-brown compacted earth topped with substantial piles of grey, rounded river stones. In the mid-ground, a square-shaped, raised wooden-framed enclosure is set into the stone layer, containing a green surface with several small, golden figurines. To the right, a multi-tiered structure constructed from rustic wooden logs bound together with cordage rises from the ground, resembling ancient scaffolding or a reconstructed timber burial chamber. The ground level in the foreground is a cleared archaeological layer of compacted earth and scattered stones, from which numerous short, cylindrical wooden posts vertically protrude in a seemingly deliberate pattern. Several small, spherical ground-level spotlights are positioned to illuminate specific areas of the exhibit. No individuals are present.
