This image captures a wide-angle view of a sandy beach and ocean, located in Simon's Town, South Africa. The sky is uniformly overcast and grey, with distant, hazy mountains visible on the horizon. The ocean water is a light blue-green, with small waves breaking near the shore. Numerous large, dark grey boulders are scattered throughout the shallow water and across the beach. Approximately 30 to 40 African penguins (Spheniscus demersus) are present within the scene. They are observed standing on the light-colored sand, on several of the boulders, and wading in the shallow water near the shoreline. Their black and white plumage is distinct against the sand and water. Several clusters of penguins are visible, particularly near the water's edge and on a prominent white-splashed rock in the mid-ground. Dark, stringy patches of seaweed and kelp are dispersed across the sandy beach, primarily at the high-tide line. The sand displays numerous small tracks and impressions, consistent with penguin movement. No human subjects or man-made structures are visible.
