The scene depicts an outdoor aviary or bird enclosure located in Nepraznentsi, Bulgaria. The ground is composed of dry, compacted dirt mixed with scattered straw, feathers, and numerous white bird droppings. Several dark, gnarled tree trunks and bare branches, some appearing dead, are rooted within the enclosure, with one prominent horizontal branch extending across the mid-ground. Eight birds are present: 1. Four predominantly white pigeons, some with reddish orbital markings, are clustered in the mid-to-background, mostly on the left. 2. One dark black pigeon with an iridescent green sheen on its head and red legs stands in the mid-left. 3. One black and white mottled pigeon with red leg bands is positioned in the mid-right. 4. One light brown/grey dove is visible in the foreground-right. 5. A partially obscured dark pigeon is visible behind the mottled pigeon.
