A colossal, seated Buddha statue, carved from reddish-brown sandstone, dominates the scene within a towering rock-cut niche in Shizhong District, Leshan City, China. The statue faces forward, depicted from a low-angle perspective, emphasizing its monumental scale. The Buddha features a serene expression with a downcast gaze, elongated earlobes, and a visible ushnisha. Its robes are intricately carved with numerous undulating, parallel folds, covering the body from shoulders to ankles. Portions of the feet are visible at the very bottom of the frame. The surrounding rock walls, part of the original cliff face, exhibit rough-hewn textures and contain multiple small, rectangular carved recesses. Greenish biological growth, likely moss or lichen, adheres to sections of the upper rock walls. A bright, square light source at the top center of the frame illuminates the upper half of the statue and the cave interior, casting a strong downward beam. No individuals are visible.
