Short TermThe image depicts the American Falls complex at Niagara Falls, located in the City of Niagara Falls, United States of America, viewed from the Niagara River below. The upper portion of the frame features a partly cloudy sky with prominent white cumulus clouds set against patches of clear blue sky. Several small, dark birds are visible flying high in the sky. The dominant feature is the immense volume of water cascading from the American Falls. A dark, sheer cliff face is visible behind and beside the falling water. Along the top edge of this cliff, a thin railing defines a viewing platform where numerous small, silhouetted figures of people are visible, observing the falls from above. Below the main waterfall, the water churns violently over a steep, rocky talus slope, creating white rapids and significant mist that rises and partially obscures the base of the falls. Several white-bodied birds, likely gulls, are flying within this misty area and over the turbulent water. On the right side of the image, built into the rocky slope, is a multi-tiered system of red wooden walkways and platforms, part of the Cave of the Winds attraction. Numerous people are present on these platforms, most wearing bright yellow rain ponchos, with a few in blue ponchos, indicating their close proximity to the water's spray. The platforms extend very close to the impact zone of the falling water. The foreground consists of the deep, greenish-blue waters of the Niagara River, displaying surface currents and ripples. The water in the immediate foreground is calmer, transitioning to foamy white turbulence where it meets the chaotic flow from the base of the falls.
