This image depicts a brick pillar adorned with decorative ceramic tiles (azulejos) in the Plaza de España, Seville, Spain
This image depicts a brick pillar adorned with decorative ceramic tiles (azulejos) in the Plaza de España, Seville, Spain. The pillar, constructed of reddish-brown bricks, features two visible sides, each with vertically oriented tiled panels. These panels display intricate designs in blue, green, yellow, and orange, including stylized human faces (one winged, one unwinged), ornate foliage, and a central circular emblem with vertical yellow and orange stripes. To the left of the pillar, a light-colored, ornate balustrade runs parallel to a narrow canal of greenish water. A small white rowboat, occupied by two individuals, is visible on this canal. In the distant background, across the canal, stands a large, ornate brick building with numerous arches and towers, characteristic of the Plaza de España. A Spanish flag, red and yellow, flies from the top of one of these towers. Several indistinct figures are visible walking beneath the building's arches. To the right of the pillar, a set of three visible brick steps leads upwards. The steps and the adjacent balustrade feature further blue and white ceramic tile detailing. The sky above is overcast.
