Two adult Magellanic penguins are depicted on arid, gravelly terrain, consistent with a coastal colony in Patagonia, Argentina. The penguins, distinguished by their black and white plumage with white bands encircling their heads and chests, stand upright, facing each other with their beaks almost touching. The ground consists of light brown and grey aggregate, interspersed with sparse, dry vegetation. In the upper left background, two dark, circular burrows are visible in the sloped, sandy earth.
