Short Term
PlovdivBulgaria

The image displays the facade of the Sts. Constantine and Helena Orthodox Church in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The central feature is a recessed entrance framed by a semi-circular stone archway, set within a rustic stone wall construction. The stone facade exhibits varied textures, with larger, rough-hewn blocks forming the lower sections and smaller, irregular stones above. Above the dark brown double wooden doors, the arch bears embossed Cyrillic text, "СВ. СВ. КОНСТАНТИН И ЕЛЕНА" (Saints Constantine and Helena), and a decorative tile panel with blue and white floral patterns. A modern silver floodlight is affixed to the stone wall directly above the arch. The wooden doors are paneled and feature dark metal hardware, including door knockers. Multiple paper posters, appearing to be announcements or schedules, are affixed to the left door panel. A small, light-colored, shield-shaped object is attached to the upper right door panel. To the right of the entrance, a purple plaque provides details in both Bulgarian and English, identifying the structure as the "ST. CONSTANTINE AND HELENA ORTHODOX CHURCH," founded in 337 A.D. and rebuilt in 1832 A.D. Adjacent to this plaque, a tall brown informational sign, also in Bulgarian and English, reiterates the church's identity and provides further historical context, accompanied by an image of the church. A bicolored black and white cat is perched on a stone ledge on the upper right side of the image, beyond the main facade. Above this area, green leafy vines are visible on a wooden trellis structure. The ground leading to the church entrance is paved with irregular gray cobblestones, on which several small, colorful petals or leaves are scattered. Sunlight illuminates the lower left section of the stone wall, casting a distinct shadow across the lower part of the entrance arch and the adjacent left wall. The sky above is overcast.
