The sign reads: "KITI CHA LAMU" - "Kiti kilikuwa cha Awadh bin Said, Mwarabu wa kisiwa cha Lamu, aliyeshi katika kipindi cha utawala wa Said Bargash Sultan wa Zanzibar toka mwaka 1820 hadi 1888. Kiti cha namna hii chenye urembo uliochanganyika na mti wa mpingo na Pembe za Ndovu, hapo kale kiliitumiwa na Waarabu na Watawala wa  huu wa viti huenda walikuja kutoka Pwani. Mtindo hiabu na viti huenda walikuja kutok viti vya Kireno vya karne ya 16. Katika Pwani ya Afrika Mashariki vinajulikana kama "viti vya Lamu"." 
The sign also reads: "LAMU CHAIR [Ebony inlaid with ivory] - A Chair, reputed to be Awadh bin Said property: a Lamu Island Arabu, who lived during the reign of Said Bargash, the Sultan of Zanzibar from 1820 to 1888. Arabs and Arabu/ African rulers of the coastal towns used this style of chair, which was probably copied from 16th century Portuguese chairs". 
The coordinates provided place this image at the National Museum of Tanzania in Dar es Salaam.
