The image displays a highly ornate Baroque altarpiece or reredos, located within the Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Luxembourg City, Luxembourg.

The central element is a rectangular oil painting depicting Saint John the Baptist in a wilderness setting. He is a nude, muscular male figure, partially draped, standing on rocks, pointing his right arm upwards. A tall staff with a cross and a banner inscribed "AGNUS DEI" (Lamb of God) is visible behind him. A lamb rests at his feet. The background features rocky terrain and distant mountains under a dramatic sky.

Flanking the painting are two full-height, sculpted figures in white or light grey stone. On the left, Saint Sebastian is depicted nude, draped at the waist, and pierced by multiple arrows. On the right, Saint Anthony the Great is shown as an elderly, bearded man in a monastic habit, holding an open book in his left hand and a staff in his right, with a wild boar at his feet. Above these figures are smaller, gilded cherub sculptures.

The entire composition is framed by an elaborate gilded structure with fluted columns made of red/maroon marble with white veining, featuring gilded composite capitals. Intricate cornices and friezes in dark red, black, and white/teal geometric patterns adorn the architectural elements.

Above the central painting, a black plaque bears the Latin inscription "BONUS PASTOR" (Good Shepherd) in gold lettering. Below this, a large gilded crest features a blue shield with three gold fleurs-de-lis, surrounded by a wreath, and surmounted by a crown. This emblem is flanked by two reclining, winged figures (angels) with white bodies and golden drapery.

The lower section of the altarpiece contains further gilded ornamentation, including scrolls, rosettes, and small cherub heads. A central circular reliquary, possibly containing a relic, is enclosed within a gilded sunburst design.
