The image displays the exterior of the Great Mosque of Al-Nouri, located in the Old City of Homs, Syria, viewed from a low angle looking upwards at one of its corners. The primary structure is built from large, dark grey or black stone blocks, characteristic of ancient masonry. A decorative parapet with a scalloped or crenellated pattern crowns the top edge of this lower structure. Rising prominently from behind this parapet is a square minaret constructed in the *ablaq* style, featuring distinct alternating horizontal bands of light grey/white and dark grey/black stone. The minaret displays two levels with arched openings and is capped by a finial. On the dark stone wall, to the left of the corner, a rectangular white plaque with Arabic script is affixed. Directly below it, a small cluster of green vegetation protrudes from a crevice in the wall. To the right of the plaque, a plain, rectangular, light-colored stone slab is embedded into the wall. The lower right portion of the frame shows a section of a window protected by vertical metal bars. Overhead, against a clear blue sky, multiple black electrical or communication wires are visible in the upper left quadrant. The scene is illuminated by natural daylight, with sunlight striking the upper parts of the building and casting shadows on portions of the lower wall. No individuals are present in the frame.
