The image depicts two clear glass rectangular jars containing preserved human fetuses, displayed as exhibits within the Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera) in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The taller jar on the left, labeled with the number "3", contains two severely malformed human fetuses suspended in a yellowish preservation fluid. The upper fetus is positioned vertically, featuring an enlarged cranium, closed eyes, and facial deformities. Its arms are bent at the elbows, and its legs are folded, resting upon the head of a second, inverted fetus positioned directly below it. The lower fetus appears less developed or profoundly malformed, with its head pointed downwards and its limbs intertwined with the upper specimen. The shorter jar on the right, labeled with the number "4", contains a single severely malformed human fetus, also immersed in a yellowish preservation fluid. This specimen exhibits a disproportionately large head, a pronounced wrinkled brow, and an open mouth. Its limbs are bent, with one arm raised and the other positioned across its body. Both jars rest on dark grey, cubic pedestals. The background consists of a dark grey wall. The specimens themselves exhibit a pale yellow-white coloration due to preservation.
