The scene depicts an open concrete drainage canal in Cuernavaca, Mexico, under bright daylight

CuernavacaMexico

The scene depicts an open concrete drainage canal in Cuernavaca, Mexico, under bright daylight. The canal runs longitudinally through the image, with concrete walls on both sides. The water within the canal is dark and stagnant, heavily laden with organic debris including leaves, twigs, and submerged plant matter, along with visible refuse such as a plastic bottle. On the left side of the canal, a narrow paved or dirt path runs parallel to the concrete wall. A black hose or cable is partially visible, extending along the upper inner edge of this left canal wall. Further in the background on the left, an urban street or alleyway is discernible, lined with multi-story buildings, some featuring stone facades and one with a yellow exterior. Utility poles with overhead lines and palm trees are also visible. A pile of white sacks is situated along the path. On the right side of the canal, the concrete wall is topped by an aged chain-link fence with brown privacy slats. This wall and the ground immediately adjacent to it are significantly overgrown with dry, light-brown grasses and weeds. A wooden or metal post, possibly part of a makeshift structure, extends diagonally into the water from the lower right foreground, with thin wires or cables wrapped around it. No individuals are present in the visible area.
