The text describes a Perast legend about a French soldier's love. After Katicina's death, Ante, heartbroken, becomes a monk named Fra Frane, guarding her grave. He lives as the only inhabitant of the island of the dead. One night, the candle on Katicina's grave wasn't lit. The people found Fra Frane dead, clutching a note, "Bury me here, dead with Katica". They fulfilled his wish, and his grave, marked by two embracing cypress trees, stands next to the church, a symbol of a Perast Romeo and Juliet.
