This image depicts an active, open-air mining or excavation site on a sloping terrain in Jos, Nigeria. The scene is characterized by extensive earth movement, exposing light brown sand and reddish-brown soil. Multiple individuals are engaged in manual labor across the slope. In the foreground and midground, large mounds of excavated sandy material dominate the lower portion of the frame. A white sack, possibly containing materials, rests on one of these mounds. Several blue and yellow flexible pipes or hoses traverse the slope, some carrying water which is visibly flowing onto the ground in various spots, indicating a hydraulic mining or washing operation. Approximately eight to ten individuals are visible, scattered throughout the midground and background, actively working on the terraced and uneven slope.
