An empty, ancient, rectangular burial niche is depicted within the Phoenician Necropolis in Cádiz, Spain. The niche, roughly carved into rock or earth, presents a flat base, vertical side walls, and a flat ceiling. All interior surfaces are coated in a light-toned, eroded plaster or stucco, exhibiting extensive calcification, textural variations, and multiple irregular brown and reddish-brown discolorations consistent with mineral staining and age. The adjacent wall to the right shows a rougher, unrefined excavation surface. A small, dark red, rectangular object, possibly modern interpretive signage, is partially visible in the lower left foreground.
