The image displays the John F
The image displays the John F. Kennedy Memorial at Runnymede, in the Borough of Runnymede, United Kingdom. The central subject is a large, rectangular, light-colored stone monument. Engraved in uppercase letters on the monument is text commemorating John F. Kennedy, noting his birth, presidency (1961-63), and death by assassin on November 22, 1963. The inscription begins: "THIS ACRE OF ENGLISH GROUND WAS GIVEN TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA BY THE PEOPLE OF BRITAIN IN MEMORY OF JOHN F KENNEDY." A vertical column of stars, resembling the design on the U.S. flag, is carved to the left of Kennedy's name. The monument rests on a tiered concrete base. In the immediate foreground, large concrete slabs form a pathway or platform. To the left and right of the monument, behind the foreground slabs, the ground is paved with cobblestones. The background consists of numerous deciduous trees, mostly bare-branched, indicating late winter or early spring, with some showing nascent foliage or small white blossoms. A grassy slope is visible on the far right. A small, dark wooden signpost is partially visible in the distant left background. The sky appears overcast or hazy, providing diffuse lighting. No individuals are present in the scene.
