The scene depicts multiple sparrows perched within a dense network of bare, dark brown to purplish-brown tree branches against a uniform, light grey overcast sky in Mramor, Bulgaria
The scene depicts multiple sparrows perched within a dense network of bare, dark brown to purplish-brown tree branches against a uniform, light grey overcast sky in Mramor, Bulgaria. At least four house sparrows (Passer domesticus) are identifiable. A central sparrow, positioned slightly left of the frame's vertical center, faces forward and slightly right, exhibiting a dark brown crown, greyish cheeks, and a prominent black bib on its throat. Its back and wing feathers are brown with darker streaks. Immediately to its right, a second sparrow is visible, primarily showing its brown and greyish-brown back plumage. A third sparrow is perched lower on the left, facing left, with its streaked brown wings and back visible. A fourth sparrow is partially observed in the lower right portion of the image, nestled among the branches. The branches are thin and appear dormant, with small, tightly closed buds visible at various points, some showing nascent greenish tips. All birds are stationary, appearing to be huddled or resting.
