LinzAustria

The image depicts the interior of the New Cathedral (Mariendom) in Linz, Austria, viewed from the rear of the nave looking towards the main altar. The architectural style is Neo-Gothic, characterized by towering stone columns with ornate capitals supporting high, ribbed vaulted ceilings constructed of stone and reddish brickwork. Tall, arched stained-glass windows illuminate the upper walls (clerestory) and the far end of the chancel, displaying vibrant blues, reds, and yellows. The floor is covered with light-toned, geometric patterned tiles. Rows of dark wooden pews line both sides of the central aisle. In the mid-ground, a light-colored, narrow stand with a triangular top is positioned centrally in the aisle. The main altar at the far end is an elaborate, multi-tiered structure featuring intricate carvings and statuary. Approximately five to seven individuals are present, scattered among the pews on both sides of the aisle, primarily seated or standing passively. The scene is illuminated by both natural light from the windows and artificial spotlights mounted along the upper walls.
