JosNigeria

The scene depicts an outdoor informal refuse disposal area in Jos, Nigeria, characterized by a large concentration of burnt and unburnt waste. A prominent, irregular mound of black ash and charcoal, approximately 1-2 meters in diameter, occupies the central mid-ground. This ash pile contains numerous partially incinerated items, including fragments of multi-colored fabrics (e.g., pink, black, purple), portions of footwear (e.g., a white flat shoe, a colorful sandal-like object), various melted plastic pieces, and scorched paper and cardboard. Scattered unburnt litter, such as plastic bags, containers, and packaging materials, is present around the main ash mound and extends into the dry, light-brown soil mixed with sparse, desiccated vegetation. In the upper left background, a light-colored concrete or masonry wall, possibly a retaining structure, is partially obscured by dry grasses and weeds. The area is brightly lit by daylight, casting distinct shadows in the foreground. No individuals or animals are visible.
