The scene depicts a section of the Moselle River in Longeville-lès-Metz, France, under an overcast sky

Longeville-lès-MetzFrance

The scene depicts a section of the Moselle River in Longeville-lès-Metz, France, under an overcast sky. The foreground features a expanse of grey, rippled water. In the midground, four wooden navigation posts with red and white rectangular top markers are visible, standing vertically in the water. The most prominent post in the central foreground has dark graffiti, possibly "ALBA" written vertically, on its wooden shaft, and a single dark-feathered bird, consistent with a cormorant, is perched on its red and white marker. A faint line of disturbed water runs horizontally across the mid-distance between the posts. The background consists of a dense line of leafless deciduous trees along the far bank. Partially obscured by the trees, a light-colored, multi-story utilitarian building with a flat roof and small rectangular windows is visible, likely associated with the nearby Barrage de Longeville-lès-Metz (Weir of Longeville-lès-Metz) or the Lock of Longeville-lès-Metz. No human subjects are present.
