AnconaItaly

A large, dark, patinated bronze sculpture, identified as Arnaldo Pomodoro's "Testa di Medusa," is centrally positioned, lying horizontally on a cobblestone surface. The sculpture depicts a stylized human head with abstract, elongated facial features, including recessed eyes and a closed mouth. Numerous small, recessed skull-like forms are integrated into the textured, radiating headpiece and within the ear region of the sculpture. The ground beneath the sculpture is paved with irregular, light-toned cobblestones. In the background, a building constructed of light-colored bricks is visible. To the left, a portion of a metal railing is present, behind which is a brown-framed window reflecting the sky. To the right, a tall, dark brown, double-leaf wooden door is set into the brick wall, with a small, dark descriptive plaque mounted above it. The scene is illuminated by ambient natural light. No individuals or active subjects are present. The sculpture is situated in the courtyard of the former convent of San Francesco alle Scale, which now houses the Pinacoteca Civica "Francesco Podesti" and the Museo della Città, in Ancona, Italy.
