A daylight scene captured from the Washington, D

WashingtonUnited States of America

A daylight scene captured from the Washington, D.C. side of the Potomac River depicts rowing activities with the skyline of Rosslyn, Virginia, in the background. The clear blue sky contains minimal wispy clouds. The wide expanse of river shows light surface ripples. The distant riverbank is densely covered with bare deciduous trees, indicating a late winter or early spring season. Above the tree line, a cluster of modern high-rise buildings dominates the horizon, notably a prominent curved building with horizontal banding (part of the Watergate complex) and a tall, rectangular building (the CEB Tower in Rosslyn). In the mid-ground of the river, a dark-colored four-person rowing shell with a coxswain is positioned, moving from left to right across the frame. Four individuals are seated and actively engaged in synchronized rowing, with their oars extended. A coxswain is seated at the stern. Further to the left and behind, another multi-person rowing shell is visible. Two small, light-colored motorized support boats are also present: one to the left of the foreground shell, with a single person standing within it, and another to the right, slightly behind the foreground shell, with one person seated.
